So it's time to upgrade from my asus laptop, that puts out a whopping 43fps. I've started researching and this is what I came up with: pcpartpicker.com/p/CWJpJxFor the builders out there: - What do you think?
- Do you know any better websites to buy parts other than newegg?
- Do you have any of these components in your system?
Any suggestions are welcome. I don't plan on ordering from that same site outletpc, but newegg.com instead. It will roughly costs me around 700. That's pretty much my budget, not including the monitor. So to be safe budget of 800. Thanks, Qu!ck'

Newegg almost always have best prices. When I bought mine, I bought my hardwarea in 3 differents providers... well next time, i'll buy everything on newegg.. why? Order on saturday evening and receive shipment on monday afternoon.. who can do better plz?
Other websites were tigerdirect and direct canada... 2nd one sent me my parts.. just it took a freaking month to get them... i prefer to pay 50$ more to newegg and have them in 3days seriously.. as for tigerdirect i promised myself to give them the WORST REPUTATION I COULD TIL I DIE!
DONT BUY AT TIGERDIRECT ITS CRAP DONT BUY AT TIGERDIRECT ITS CRAP DONT BUY AT TIGERDIRECT ITS CRAP DONT BUY AT TIGERDIRECT ITS CRAP DONT BUY AT TIGERDIRECT ITS CRAP Got it? Canceled my order and got it on newegg instead lol
DONT BUY AT TIGERDIRECT ITS CRAP DONT BUY AT TIGERDIRECT ITS CRAP
GOT IT FOR REAL NAAAOOOWW? :/
Pcpartpickers kick ass to find stuff compatible. Use it, abuse it, die for it!
Now your build depends on how much $$$$ you have. So? (Currency plz) 800USD or CAD? And what kind of computer you want? Hardcore gaming or just ok? What you plan to do with it?

I've had no trouble with tiger direct myself but maybe listen to Cake rather than feel her wrath! If you have a MicroCenter in the area I have found some parts there cheaper than on newegg ... also maybe worth it to check Amazon as they sell everything nowadays. Dunno if you need the free slot but quick (pun intended) search at newegg had this well reviewed 2x4gb pop up for slightly less www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428Only other advice really would be maybe check for any barebones kits before buying in case somethings on sale, and double check prices on similar items anywhere you're wanting to order from in case there's a sale ... could end up saving 50-75 bucks or so in the end if you get lucky. Parts-wise seems pretty reasonable for the price ... don't forget to get a mouse

Core i5 4th gen is a good choice... Well I don't think there is something that could be changed for that prince range, maybe add an extra mechanical HDD? otherwise you will run out of space real fast... actually if you increase your budget a little bit I would go for an R9 280X (gigabyte or asus pref) instead of the GTX 750ti.

Dunno if it's in the budget but for upgrading purposes say two vid cards might want to reconsider the case/power supply combo, probably would need a little more juice outta the power supply.

You could always do like me..my last machine. Ya micro case with a old Intel P4 board. Purchased as parts machine from local college $15.00. Swapped power supply with something much better I found lying on the floor in my bro's closet (free). Sound and network cards stripped from who knows where and stored in tote under guest bed for last 2 yrs. 1 slightly used gigabyte GV-n98tgr vid card my bro just was'nt quite happy with, half price $45.00. Possibly (at least I dont know where it came from) pirated version of WinXP? Used up untill bout 2 yrs ago..when the CPU went and my part supply ran out. Good enough to get me 76 FPS though. Currrently another used P4, which I updated a little better with new power supply and graphics card..about $160 in it, still on WinXP, and get 125 FPS.. zero complaints about the machine,if only I could say the same thing bout my ISP...

Perry nice setup I have about half of that in my current build, my one wish is I went for the tower you have listed ( I went InWin it is ok but would not recommend it ), I also went with the asus pro motherboard I was neck and neck with that one and the sabertooth, but I am pleased with my choice, yours is a much better motherboard but I did not need to worry about overclocking ( I am not going to so stuck with fan cooling have the cooler master evo212 ). The other difference is I went with the gigabyte 750 card because had a great deal at newegg 119 shipped ( will say the card is just ok ) good enough for old games, runs current games not to bad, I love quicks pick of video cards. AND back cake 100% NEWEGG NEWEGG , bump tigers ( and NO I DONT WORK FOR NEWEGG ) That powersupply simple ROCKS, I did upgrade the ram went with gskill 1866 sniper ( 2x4 ) since AMD cpus love that speed at stock. All in all seems like pps have some great build Ideas.

Perry,
Is that your current setup? Or are you looking at someone else build? And any reason you're going for an AMD FX Cpu over an intel?

Quick,
Yes it's pretty much the same build as mine. The AMD FX is great cpu for the money and if ur able to OC it a lil bit more you pretty much have and i7 that coast 30-40% less, BUT IF YOU DO OC THIS MAKE SURE YOU GET LIQUID COOLING PLS. Also I have a 500 GB SSD, and 16GB of the same ram that I put up

The problem with AMD ignoring the fact that the temperatures are way higher than Intel is that if you want really high performance in games you rely a lot more on your videocard.

I'm not really digging AMD. I think I'm gonna stick w/ my build w/ blazer's video card tho

The other problem with AMD is the last I knew there technology kinda got outpaced, and as far as I know there not quite up to par with intel.

If you're wondering how I was able to afford that, my company gave me the video cards - they had spares

Anyways I see that you got 2 GTX 460, I had an SLI of GTX 470 a while ago. In my experience I can tell that the GTX 400 series consumes a lot of power, Did you get a powerful PSU in order to get them to work?

Hey Blazer, for this card: www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-460/specificationsIt says Supplementary Power Connectors ; "6-pin & 6-pin" Does that mean, I only have to use ONE of those 6-Pin Packs? There 2 packs of those per card. The power supply that perry mentioned has 3 x(6+2 pin) power connectors. So I think I only have to use 1 6Pin slot per card, correct?

yes you only use 1 6 pin the other +2 that are there is if you had a bigger video card that takes a 8 pin connector plus that power supply I listed is Modular so you can save space in you case which also means more air flow which mean cooler CPU and GPU temps

No, if the video card demands 2 x 6 pin connectors then you need to connect both. In this case if you are going to connect 2 video cards (sli) you need 4x 6pin and a sli bridge connector.. That means your psu should have 4 x 6 pin cables at least.. Or you will need some extra 4pin to 6 pin converter (http://www.amazon.com/4-Pin-Molex-Female-Adapter-Length/dp/B007NMSUUA) Usually standard psus have 2 x 6+2 pin connectors.. But that will only allow you to connect 1 video card. If its not clear please refer to this video: youtu.be/fLvnuA1uhoE
