Episodes just dropped on Friday, anybody going to watch / already watched !? I have enjoyed all the marvel stuff from Netflix so far, expecting to enjoy this one as well, though I've only just started episode 2. I expect to have the series finished by the end of tomorrow though So far I am digging the atmosphere / music / style, etc. Think it's going to shape up to be a winner of a show.

Watched Daredevil, which was excellent.
Was somewhat underwhelmed with Jessica Jones (outside of the villain) and Daredevil 2 (outside of teh Punisher).
Looking forward to Luke Cage.
Also, need to watch Westworld on HBO.

Also, Ton, the Netflix stuff is the DC universe, not marvel. Get your comic nerd on, mah mang.

Would make a thread about the DC shows on CW but I think I'm the only one that watches those I should also add that I finished the series up a couple days ago, thoroughly enjoyed it. Daredevil is the best overall show of the bunch IMO but I'm certainly not unhappy with JJ or LC. There's only been one episode of Westworld so far so there's not much catching up to do there. I watched it of course but it's too early to make any judgements on it yet. PS: Luckily I was on the computer looking at shower repair youtubes so I was able to see your reply right away

Ha ha .. maybe I got corn-fused since JJ seemed like a CW show. Looks like they're going to do Iron Fist next, followed by teh Defender series. Punisher is also getting his own show. And then the sequels for DD. This could lead to years of "marvel" bliss on Netflix.

So, I started Iron Fist this past weekend (and instead of creating a new thread, I thought I'd add to this one).
The writing at parts is somewhat comical. In fact, I actually love shows/movies with unintentional comedy. LOL.
Anyway - it had enough for me to binge watch 5 episodes back to back.
One side observance - it appears that a lot of lead characters on the comic book shows are from England. When I started to watch this show, I had a feeling that the lead character for this show was English too. Turns out he's Loras Tyrell from GoT. And one of the sand snakes is in this show as well. They all seem to do the American accent fairly flawlessly. Acting school ftw!
Might as well watch this show (if you're on the fence), since Defenders (with all of them) comes out in August this year.
v57!

I watched the remaining 8 episodes over the last couple of days. Overall - I found it entertaining and fans of martial arts films should like this. As I mentioned before, some of the dialogs are pretty brutal (but if you can get past that - it's fun). Anyway, if anyone has seen the 1979 movie "Snake in the monkey's shadow" (prolly no one - it's on teh youtube), they've got the "drunken monk" style of kung fu, in episode 8. Highlight of the show! The drunken friggin monk! Final clip from Snake in the Monkeys Shadow ... lol. I couldn't find the actual drunken monk training part (which was hilarious in the original movie). (PS: I feel like this thread is my very own personal diary )

I finally got around to starting Iron Fist a couple days ago, I'm maybe on episode four or five. Nothing too mind blowing going on so far ... overall I'd just say there's nothing terribly interesting about it that I've seen yet. I felt like it should be watched though so I'll finish it up over the next day or two.

Yeah, I'm a little surprised with the down-tick in the quality of IF, given the entertaining, dark and realistic essence of Daredevil season 1. Anyway, it kept my attention. You do need to watch it as you've mentioned, since Defenders is going to be strongly connected to all the story lines. My rankings so far: 1. Daredevil S1 2. Luke Cage 3a. Daredevil S2 (Punisher saved the season... DD disappointed in this one) 3b. Iron Fist (some entertaining parts) 5. Jessica Jones (altho' the villain was excellent) - I prolly need to watch this one again (or at least parts of it). And maybe I've ranked it lower due to the fact that it was released after DD s1 (so, expectations). It felt twilight-ish.

Friendly reminder that The Defenders drops on Friday! Trying not to spoil anything for myself but the headlines I've seen so far have been positive.

Binge watching "Defenders" weekend complete. The first couple of episodes were somewhat slow, but it picked up by the 3rd episode. I was entertained. It's a short 8 episodes. I'm going to still maintain that the first season of Daredevil was definitely the best of the series. It had that dark (film noir?) quality to it. This one had that avengers-lite feel to it - many characters, their own story lines etc. where they cannot get too deep with any one individual character (which is why they had the separate shows to begin with, I suppose) - but overall it was entertaining.

Hehe I also watched it all over the weekend. Think it was pretty much what could be expected from establishing the whole group thing (not too much depth). Like you said they have all the other shows to do more character driven stuff ... and maybe now that they have the group set up a next season could be a little more interesting.

Punisher was pretty straight forward ... nothing too crazy going on or anything since he doesn't have any martial arts or superpowers going on. I don't think anything really blew me away in it but it was a serviceable addition to the whole Netflix Marvel thang.

Binge watched Teh Punisher yesterday and finished it. I was entertained. It's your typical Marvel-Netflix show that starts off intense, has some filler episodes in the middle and then finishes strong. It did get political (somewhat) in the middle and not sure whether that was necessary. (but wow... it was violent as heck - since this guy is your typical anti-hero i guess) Regarding JJ, as mentioned in one of my comments above, it did feel like a CW-ish show (altho the villain in season 1 was bad ass). I'll still watch season 2 tho'.

Yeah season 2 sort of felt like a lot of explanation without anything that fun really going on. Sometimes I was enjoying things but overall kind of just wanted to be finished so I could move on to something else.

Yeah season 2 sort of felt like a lot of explanation without anything that fun really going on. Sometimes I was enjoying things but overall kind of just wanted to be finished so I could move on to something else. I think the writers tried to get cute with this one (or, more likely, very lazy) by not having a villain in the show. Having interesting bad guys is like one of the core tenets of Marvel shows. The saving grace, at the very least, was Kristen's jean butt. So, any recommendations for the new binge worthy show? Sneaky Pete, Americans, others? I've heard meh reviews for Stranger Things 2 (so, my enthusiasm for that one is somewhat tepid).

Definitely appreciated that Kristen is always in the jeans I am a big fan of The Americans. The new season actually starts up pretty soon. I watched three seasons worth last year in order to catch up to the season that was currently airing. Think we covered ST season 2 in its own thread ... Sneaky Pete I just finished up season 2 yesterday. Season 1 was a bit stronger than season 2 though in my opinion. There's some fun stuff going on but overall maybe not enough compelling stuff On Netflix I thought Mindhunter and GLOW were pretty good. There are a few seasons of Narcos I think but I'm not really up to date on it enough to give any review. Personally I might try out The Path next with Aaron Paul, I think there's been 3 seasons so far? It seems to get decent reviews. I think my most recent binge was Peaky Blinders which was pretty fun, there's only 6 episodes in a season so it didn't take long. Some other stuff I'm looking forward to that start pretty soon ... new season of Silicon Valley and that Barry show with Bill Hader on HBO, and a new season of Series of Unfortunate Events. And at the top of it all, Roseanne comes back next week.

New season of Luke Cage out today ... I think it's been decently reviewed? Has its ups and downs? I generally have to avoid all reviews of anything nowadays and do my best to quickly look away from any headlines, as most outlets seem to assume you've either seen all the episodes before they've even been released, or at the least watch the entire season the second it comes out. I know there's something about Bushmaster this season and the woman has a robot arm, that's about the extent of my knowledge.
Anywho I guess I'd watch it no matter regardless of reviews, but I'll report back in a couple days when I've finished the season to spoil things for anyone who hasn't watched yet.

Has anyone here watched season 2 of Luke cage yet? I couldn't get through the first episode. I know that iron fist season 2 comes out in a couple of weeks, but I might have to give the Netflix marvel stuff a rest for a little while. Punisher was good, and all the others have been somewhat entertaining, but none of them have matched the excellence of season 1 of daredevil. That was good since it didn't seem like a marvel show.
