Yep, [Judge]Usagi is back with another installment of his helpful suggestions (or not so helpful depending on your point of view). This time I am talking about the Medic. The Medic is the second class I started playing and I still like using it today.
[Judge]Usagi Tip #1: The Medic has more life.
Now, if your combat skills are like mine then any advantage you can get is a good one. I have been in a few one on one firefights and came out the winner strictly because I had 140 health or more. Now when the fight was over I usually have about 10 health left, but the bottom line was more health the longer I can stay in a fight; even if my aim was not the best. Now, I am not advocating becoming a nonstop Rambo medic and leaving your team mates behind, but it is a fact the medic has more life than any other class in the game and takes more damage before dying.
[Judge]Usagi Tip #2: Revive on the run.
The best tip for a starting Medic is to learn how to time a syringe hit while moving. The other team loves it when you are standing over a downed team mate. You make an excellent target. It is better to learn to move around and revive people while doing it. I’m still not the best at this but I am doing better.
Sub Tip A: Kill the enemy before you start reviving your team mates.
If possible kill the enemy before you start reviving, especially if he is alone. Why? It makes it easier to heal your team mates back up when no one is shooting at you. And chances are your team mates did some damage to him before you got there and he should be easier to take down if he is wounded and alone.
Plus, you get credit for the kill and your team mate did most of the work. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten in a firefight and died only to have a Medic come along and kill the guy with one shot who killed me. All I could do was suck it up and say thanks when he revived me. Too bad this game doesn’t count RBIs or assists; I would have a ton of them.
Sub Tip B: The human shield.
If there are a lot of the other team running around I try to revive someone first because having back up is a good thing; while I’m trying to revive other players. Also, the person you just revived has invincibility for a few seconds and you can hide behind him without getting shot while he is getting up for a second or two as you look around for more of your downed team mates in an area.
[Judge]Usagi Tip #3: Throw health everywhere you know your team mates are.
The easiest way for a Medic to get XP is to lay down health packs. I always place them down when I respawn, because sometimes people don’t have their life bar full when the respawn and an extra 20 health or so can make a difference in a gun fight.
Plus, I love it when I have been out in the field and I see a Medic come along dropping health packs. It saves people battling it out on the front line from having to leave the fight in order to get some health. That is what teamwork is all about; supporting your fellow team mates. If you don’t like to do that then I suggest you play another class or better yet, go play another game; because this one is designed on people working together as a team. See my first post for a deeper discussion on the topic of teamwork.
That’s all for today’s Judge Usagis Tips and if you find these simple tips helpful let me know. And remember these are just my two yen on this stuff and in no way should anything I say be considered gospel, just friendly suggestions.
