[Judge]Usagi here again,
I have done my comments on general game play/teamwork. Now, I thought I would do a few brief tips on being a soldier and I mean brief. Why? Well, any of you who have gone one on one with the rabbit bodyguard know what a great shot I am. I usually end up with a friendly visit to my local spawn point and see my name scroll by [Judge]Usagi was killed by [insert your name here]. Now, I have tried the soldier class and most of the time I will leave it to others.
Why? It just doesn’t fit my mind set. I’m not big on using the Panzerfaust, Flame thrower, or the Mortar. I don’t mind the Thompson or the MP40, but my skills with either aren’t anything on the level of the real Usagi and if I am going to use either one of those guns then I would rather play a Medic, Engineer, or Field Ops. The only gun I really like is the mobile machine gun. I like to set up in places and play the role of what I call the blocker.
[Judge]Usagi Tip #1: Block choke points with heavy firepower.
This is one of the things the soldier does best. After you get to know the maps try and pick out where the enemy choke points are and lay down as much fire power in that area as possible, effectively blocking the movement of enemy troops. The best spot always has the enemy troops moving directly at you, which makes it easier to take them out; instead of them moving across your field of vision.
Bonus Tip A: Find extra ammo
The biggest disadvantage of the soldier for me is the lack of ammo, so I always try to stop by your friendly ammo rack or after I set up I call for a Field Ops. I know I burn through 150 rounds of ammo very quickly with the mobile machine gun and a few extra ammo packs always come in handy.
Bonus Tip B: Move around with friends
The other disadvantage is the slow rate of movement the soldier suffers from before he starts to level up. So it is best to run with your pistol out. However, I always get caught when moving around like this and quickly shot down. Pistol versus Thompson, Thompson is the winner. If possible always move around the map with your fellow team mates. There is safety in numbers.
[Judge]Usagi Tip #2: Move from spot to spot.
I have found if I stay in the same spot the guy I just killed will come back and lay down fire on me. So, I try to shift from spot to spot while still focusing on the same choke point. This makes them try and find me, while I know right where they are going to pop up. One of my favorite setup points is on the Fuel Dump map near the Axis command post while playing as an Axis soldier. I can usually make it difficult for anyone trying to build the small bridge and get a few kills while doing it.
Or on Gold Rush as an Axis, I set up on the desk in the bank, but then I switch to the floor on the left side of the desk or on the right side of the desk. Word tends to spread quickly on the other team about where you are set up at, so try to keep moving around. After all, that is the advantage of the mobile machine gun.
Anyway, I don’t play a soldier very often, but I really appreciate the Medics and Field Ops who back me up when I do. Thanks guys.
That’s all for today’s Judge Usagi„ ?s Tips and if you find these simple tips helpful let me know. And remember these are just my two yen on this stuff and in no way should anything I say be considered gospel, just friendly suggestions.
