Really good movie. Not the punch of The Force Awakenings IMO. Great side story predating the original Star Wars (Episode IV) and I guess there are plans to make an offshoot movie dealing with Han Solo coming up next.

I've seen it twice, once on opening night and again Saturday night. I also really liked it. It certainly qualifies as a Star Wars war film. The battle scenes were intense and gritty which was very welcome. And finally we get to see stormtroopers do their jobs and not suffer from stormtrooper aim (well, at least not all the time).
Krennic was a good addition to Star Wars villains. I like how every Imperial officer wants to take credit for the Death Star's creation when it's obviously a monumental team effort.
The character development isn't the best, but considering the nature of the film it kind of makes sense. But they did enough to make the characters distinctive. Also, the blind character is probably my favorite.
I liked the cameos too. Yeah, they were kind of a fan service but welcome all the same. And then there's Tarkin. The first time I saw him I was a little surprised. But the more I saw him, especially when I saw the movie the second time, the more I got impressed with the CGI. It wasn't perfect but it was pretty darn good. And whoever they hired to do his voice deserves recognition. When he said, "You may fire when ready" took me right back to A New Hope.
And without saying too much, the last seen with Vader in it was definitely my favorite of the whole movie. When those lights went dark I begged for something awesome, and they gave me exactly what I asked for. One of the best Vader moments in any Star Wars film.
As for the music, this is the first live action Star Wars film to not be scored by our maestro John Williams. Instead we got one written by my favorite younger composer Michael Giacchino. Giacchino isn't Williams nor should he try to be. For a score that was written in 4 weeks, I thought he did just fine. He tried his hardest and I want him to return. Following Williams is hard enough (which he's done with Jurassic World) but to follow him in Star Wars must be kind of terrifying.

Seen it just few days ago (i'm pretty quick uh!!) It's feeling a gap between III and IV... how they got death star infos and everything.. That kind of gap happens between each main movies in fact. You could almost do a movie to explain the gap between all main movies... it would become too much IMO... this movie feels more like another money grabber. I'm not sure they are doing it more for the fans than for their wallet. This is something I'm really afraid of in fact. Now that Disney owns Lucas Film, I'm afraid they start to make dozens and dozens of new movies for any kind of reason. As much as I enjoy Star Wars, at some point it'll become too much for me. The movie itself? It was decent. I'm usually not expecting much from movies and usually enjoy them more than many people. It was entertaining, good fights all around.. pretty true to the Star Wars franchise overall. And as Sgt. AWOLaLot mentionned, I enjoyed alot the final scene. Darth Vader was indeed welcome in that movie and it's the only lightsaber we can see for the whole movie... it's not a Star Wars movie without a lightsaber!!!!
This said, my favorite part of the movie? When main heroes died at the end... They had the guts to kill them. I like that.. and it would make sense as during the movie IV (A new Hope), they mention that many people died to get the informations around Death Star. Would not make sense if the 2 characters responsible of stealing the plans would hav survived. Entertaining honestly but I'm really afraid Disney starts to milk Star wars franchise like no tomorrow... I'm sad Lucas Film got sold to them...
