I have been having problems with my 2TB storage drive lately ... frequently at boot I would be prompted to scan and repair errors on one of its partitions ... this was a pain that would take a couple hours but it was at least completing. Now it will no longer complete, and I fear my drive is on the outs. So far I have only lost 500GB of television shows, but I don't want to lose my movie and music partitions that take up the rest of the drive, so I think I'd better replace the drive sooner than later. I have browsed around on amazon a bit ... I'm not really trying to break the bank on this thing ... I have this one bookmarked so far ... www.amazon.com/Blue-Desktop-Hard-Disk-Drive/dp/B013QFRS2SFigured I would wait a day and ask here before ordering in case anyone had some opinion on this drive or drives in a similar price range, or had a horrible experience with the above drive or something. Thanks! EDIT: Not a big hardware know-it-all ... I formatted that particular partition since it wasn't able to be repaired or accessed ... previously all the partitions on that drive were listed as "at risk" , but now they've switched to "healthy" ... has formatting that partition extended the life of my drive overall , or should I still be looking to replace? EDIT #2: Upon restart the whole drive seemed to be bork'd and the partitions were all gone , so now the 1.5TB of tunes and movies are in the wind ... it was a good run. The question remains though ... should this drive be essentially considered failing and unusable / unreliable , or should I consider this a clean slate and go about storing things on it again?

Also, I did see the Black version as an option, but they are a bit pricier ... it seemed like that drive might be better if it was going to be my primary drive, but since it's just for storage the blue seemed like a safe bet. I looked at other brands on Amazon (like Hitachi) but a lot seemed like they were refurbished, not as solid reviews, and the price difference was also pretty negligible. Overall the WD Blue seems like the best bang for the buck in terms of what I need it for. EDIT: I hate getting caught in the trap of researching for days and days too scared to commit to buying anything so I just went ahead and ordered the Blue 2TB. Sometimes I download several GB worth of various media a day, I need my mass storage now!

Well that Caution notice is pretty clear lol, btw were you using a 2.5" disk? because its only 5400RPM.
Also it's fine the WD Blue works, Hitachi has been famous for their low failure rate... but it seems like this numbers have changed in the last few years.

It's a 3.5" ... I think it's about 6 years old ... don't really remember much about my thought process at the time when purchasing it but I imagine I probably just picked up what I could afford. My primary HDD is actually a 1TB Western Digital Black though so hopefully it will live a long and healthy life
