Da Hoser's thread about teh ET Death watch kinda made me think about the future of ET.
Strangely enough, on a weekly basis we see some new players on our server. And not just new to QAW, but at least they appear to be new to the game. I'm beyond amazed by that!
So how did YOU hear about ET and how did you find us?
For me: I guess I've pretty much played only 2 multi-player games. I used to play Deus Ex (multiplayer) for several years in the early 2000s. That was an excellent MP game, although it was only Team Death Match (or Death Match and LMS). However, there were many routes you could take to "build your character" (stealthy and fast, or slower but built to absorb a LOT of punishment, etc.) from the time you joined the server for that gaming session.
That community started to fizzle around 2003-2004, at which time, someone mentioned "on our clan" - that we could keep that community alive by switching to this NEW, COOL, objective based game called ET - and the best part, it was FREE!!
I installed it. Played one map and was hooked! I tried to dabble with Call of Duty multi-player, but every time I fall back to ET. There is no other objective based game like this. At least none that I know of.
Re. QAW, I found it on the server list and loved the settings. I used to get bitched at pretty consistently on servers that had FF on with a million team kills - since my fav class used to be Fld Ops (and used to play that class almost all the time). I enjoyed hanging with the regulars on the server, and the rest is history.
What is thine story?

I think I may have first come across it while on an old pc gaming forum when it came out and me and a couple people from there tried playing it. I just played here and there though not really consistently. Then at some point a few years later I may have played a few more times, possibly at QAW. When I returned to the game again most recently and browsed through the server list for something to play QAW rang a bell as one I'd played before that had just the original maps since I hated joining other servers with extra crap to DL. Guess I have played pretty consistently since then and haven't played at any other server.

I think I remember my story on a regular basis - I'm quite a nostalic kind of person... I think around 2004-05 I was half way university and a friend of mine and old reg (LeonBornKiller) told me about ET... he invited me to play... I was amazed about the game and we used to play every weekend till dawn (yeah, we were all around the clock... the US people were gone and the Europeans came and we would still be playing)... we always played QAW, tbh... tried jaymod once, but thats for other kinda people, I think. We played for a whole year, then I stopped seeing my friend and I didnt have a good rig, so I stopped till 2007 - I came back to QAW and some fellas formed a clan (in which I was in till it broke circa 2009-10) there I started playing ETPro (which I LOVED)... stopped again then came back to QAW around 2012... stopped and came back to QAW again around 2015-16... and here I am A.K.A.s have been (besides "hoff") - hoffmann, ContadoXuno, Tehoom, Graduate, Gilmour, hoff:/beerface. PD: Some of those nicks are still shown in Yawn xD

I was on a personal discovery journey in Thailand around 2006-2007 and fell ill after some bad truck stop sushi, or so I thought. I woke up in my hotel bathtub full of ice with a note taped to my third nipple that read “We took your kidney, call a doctor!” The front desk clerk helped me out to the curb to wait for medical assistance. A couple minutes later a teal and blue colored van pulled up with QAWMBULANCE emblazoned on its side with personalized plates; V-21! I thought it all very strange, but hey I don’t speak Thainese.
Well as you might have figured out by now, I was kidnapped by Porridge that day and have been ironing Malone’s denim shorts in his basement ever since. Occasionally Bacon, Hoff or Ton will bring me some fresh hot dog water to make ice cubes, or an assortment of Fun Dips candy. Between those visits I spend my time learning to color and playing ET on the QAW swervers.

loool at Scout^^^ I just remembered the days of the old Wolfenstein 3D sometime in the late 80's. When the name revived around 2000 as Return to castle wolfenstein, I was a front runner to play Beach beta, then there was that trenchtoast map..then the "goldrush" mod where every player you killed dropped gold, and the more you picked up the slower you moved...then the latest and greatest came out, and finding the greatest players playing the greatest game is a once in a lifetime experience..so im still here

Apparently Malone had taken up a hobby of knitting sweaters at the time, using people's kidneys. As you are well aware, we don't ask Malone any questions. Especially his first name.

My next door neighbor ks.shagrath showed me et in high school back in 2004 and I couldn't get enough of it. I played on Ks servers for a while, played for ks for about a year, then popped on the QAW server and never left. Other games just don't compare. unfortunately ET is dying..

I started playing ET back in 2004/2005 I think. I most likely found the game in an issue of PC Gamer (what a great magazine it used to be). I played almost exclusively on the or8 servers (games.or8.net) and we played FortyMod. Since then I have picked the game up and started playing on/off every once in a while. I found QAW last year around September when looking for servers on the Gametracker website when the splash damage servers stopped listing games. Even though BaCON scared me away at first I came back and have been here regularly ever since. I am curious if the servers will slow down a bit now that the nicer weather is almost here. Pleasure playing with all of you except for TT of course. I don't think he knows how to read so he won't see this message anyway.

I played orig. Castle Wolfenstein, Doom and the Quake(s). Played Duke Nukem with buds in LAN parties/modem connections (when I got my nic). Somewhere around pre-1998 I found the Beach Demo for ET. I remember because I was living in a different city and I remember playing it there. Then in 1998 I moved to the area I am now. Played the Beach Demo for about 3 to 4 yrs. We had a DaDirtyDozen (DDzn) clan. Then when we lost our server (beotch.com)/it went down so I tried some RtCW online but it never seemed to be as fun as the Beach Demo. Then when ET was released, I tried it and liked it since it was an offshoot of Beach Demo. So I loaded up the server-list, sorted it by best ping, QAW was at the top and joined that one,... and never left kinda thing.. (about 2 JHero lifetimes ago ) I find the 'lack of asshats', and the 'holding to higher standards' a great thing about the QAW server. Of all the servers, QAW IS more about having fun and not just about 'point whoring/kill as much as you can'. Aside, I recently tried out the Enemy Territory - Quake Wars, but wow, quite a different game. I like how SpacePimp described it = frantic. I will say the more I play, the more I seem to enjoy it. But no where near the level that I enjoy ET. ET has 'simplicity' in its favor. I like it for the 'simple' HUD and somewhat simple grfx. Leaving out all the 'bells and whistles', it does come down to pure gameplay. And I'm hard pressed to think of another game that has as great of gameplay as ET.

I came across after RTCW multiplayer died (mostlikely because of ET's release). Then I joined for some years a clan named "Team ballz". People started playing other games but I kept playing ET so it was time for me to leave. After that I think i found qaw randomly and started playing here a lot. I also remember having trouble with some old members (not sure if getting kicked or banned) but after a slice of love things got settled.
Now my only addictive games are: clash of clans, royale and ET!

Got RTCW as a gift when I was a kid. Played it a bit... decided I didn't like it too much... played rarely....then ET came out, and I decided I loved both games! So I played on many servers for many years....I played on another clans server mostly until they died out... Then I found QAW server!! Played a bit before getting banned by Sloniu I believe? for being crazy and yapping away... Shortly after I came on here crying like a baby asking for forgiveness.... And here we are!!!! yipppy yeee yayyy And of course I played Wolfenstein 3D as a baby.

I stumbled over a QAW server some time around 2005, maybe? I've always bounced around a lot of servers. Some I still return to every so often, though IPs do change on occasion and require hunting. I first found ET while searching for free games. I ended up actually buying Quake 3, and Freelancer, downloading ET, and buying something like this www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-6200-Graphics-512-A8-N405-KR/dp/B004ZMYJR4 to help my poor whatever it was Sams Club special I had bought around 2003. I've since gotten into BF3 and BF1, but the massive updates tend to irritate me, as well as the lack of local bandwidth.

I started playing FPS games back in 2002 (Halo, Quake, Wolfenstein 3D) I got into Enemy territory and QAW thanks to Kleez .. I saw him and other friends play it.. I was worse than I am right now but eventually got used to die over and over and kind of enjoyed it lol, this was around 2004-2005.
I played on QAW and some other ETMain server called "Knight Templar" back then, from 2005 till 2010ish as I learned more about the game got involved in several roles not only as a player also as an admin for the ET competitive Scene, Founded a clan which was inspired by QAW in 2007 (http://et.splatterladder.com/?mod=claninfo&idx=162785) which sadly disbanded after many years. Had several teams in the ETPro scene but I never acted like a jerk or became toxic as most of ETPro players lol (Or at least thats what I think), In 2009 I started university so I stopped playing that actively and just played ocasionally, I always kept coming to QAW to have some fun or to play in the tournaments (Participated in 6 total).
Lately I only play ET on QAW mostly and sometimes PUBG or Fortnite as I dont have much time to play.

Started playing in 2005 by accident (I think I was about 12 years old) because I had gotten the RTCW special edition that came with the free copy of Enemy Territory and I didn't understand what it was, thinking it was an expansion to the single player game. After playing it for about a day I was hooked and played intensely until about 2011 belonging to many clans who rose and fell throughout those years (all on v. 2.56 as I thought v. 2.60b was for posers lol) [AF] >>CO<< |ZB| {TE666} |+HA+| to name a few. Basically I was good friends with another player named z3r0 and i followed him to whichever clans he went to haha. At the time I played under the alias 'Anarchy'. Anyway I quit playing in 2011 when I went to college and didnt touch the game for nearly 6 years when sometime late last year I re-installed it on a hunch and had a desire to play the original maps which of course lead me to you people. I haven't been right in the head since... Thanks for that. -KingMob

FPS fan from the beginning, i played the shate out of OG Wolf, the first Dooms, Rise of the Triad etc. Got my start with modern FPS' with the RTCW Beach demo. What a map. Sad that the ET version of it just doesn't feel quite the same. Started working at Activision in 2002. Not long after, ET ended up in the basement for late-Alpha, then Beta testing as a full SP/MP game. They obviously got rid of SP. Not quite sure but I think the AI just wasn't there for a multi-class system like ET had. Might have been something else though. As I've mentioned in the past, I got to be MP filler/fodder for a day of bandwidth stress-testing which was my only pre-release experience with the game. Not a lot of fun was to be had as we were testing it, but yeah, it was fueldump when it looked WAY more like RTCW Forest than the snowy map it is now. If you haven't played Single Player RTCW, you STRONGLY owe it to yourselves, and fans of sniping will LOVE the Forest map as its almost* identical to Fueldump and has some good sniper action. Once ET shipped, I immediately switched from RTCW to ET (mostly). I didn't come across QAW till 2010 or so as prior-to, there was no reason to even go to the 90+ ping servers at the time. Still PLENTY of non-bot, lower ping servers at that time. Admin'd and clanned with LOD (red/white/blue, not the one that still might be in server list) for a bit. Yep, then started playing QAW VERY sporadically around 2010, and far more regular around 2011. A couple years later, Ton joined and would play-out maps just proning around for the entirety and being a regular victim of Piggy, Delord, and Soojung. My how times have changed. I was drunk and sad the other night, reading for the first time, the "ET is dying" thread. Was it this one? Hmm, Senor Gekkeikan is blocking my mem. Anyway, it breaks my heart to read that, mostly because it's true and this is the place that keeps my balance in balance. I WANT TO BELIEBE that with our forces combined, we can provide one last surge for the server. Do you have a friend that likes FREE (not F2P.....) games? Bring 'em in! Thot I'd share my story and soap-box it up. What have I worked on game-wise? This link has like 2/3s of my credits, if interested. I'm sure you'll have played a few. See you soon, friends.. www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,79123/ Oh, factoid: There was ALMOST a 7th original map that got cut near the end. Map name was NERO (no relation to anything you'll see on GIS. It was a desert map that took place place within a canyon-like landscape. I beliebe it was an axis-offense map. Wish I knew why it got cut, but yeah, ORIGINALS was almost gonna be a 7 map rotation. Go carefully.

Hello all! Being 18 years old, I didn't know about ET when it was on its "golden age". My brother and I were a fan of old and free games, which could run on our slow computer At the time (2011) we had already spent a shitton of time on Red Alert 2, Halo 1, Duke Nukem...and many other classics. So one day, my brother was digging in internet searching for games as usual, and he told me "I got a new game, wanna try it?", I said f*ck yea. And damn it was love at first sight. I loved that game for its gameplay, its sounds, its voices...it was just epic. For a year or so, I would just open the serverlist, search for the map "Battery", join, pick axis Field Op and rain the shit down from the sky on the beach with airstrikes. I loved the "Double ki- Triple k- multikil- MMMMMMonster kill!". After a while I started to search for more classic servers, I joined a bunch for a while, but they all died. One day (maybe 2014) I was just messing arround on internet, I searched "enemy territory servers", and I found the page "QAW - Servers". I opened it, and damn...it was the best ET-related page I've ever read, I loved everything about rules etc. Then I tried QAW, and I confirmed to myself that it is the best ET server out there.

It was my brother who found the game and told me we would play that. He was amazed by the fact there were class like medic, engineer, etc. lol.. pretty casual those days but back in 2003, it was incredible! Then I started to play way more than him... i mean... way MORE than him.. he never played much while i became addicted to it. Spent alot of time on KS server too! And all the SS servers aswell. At the end, before I made the switch to ET:QW, i landed on the WarTorn server that was running BaseRace all the time. After that, I left to ET:QW where I founded the GP clan (Going Postal) with old teammates from WT server and with some players we met playing. Eventually, playing Dirty Bomb, I met randomly a founder of GP that i lost contact with and we got back in touch playing Dirty Bomb and Overwatch together. After ET:QW lost alot players in favor of other games, I came back to W:ET but the damned ingame browser was full of bot or empty servers. I remembered about Splatterladder so i searched for a kinda vanilla server (base map only, no bot, filled with a decent amount of people) and I found QAW and since 2009, when I decide to play some ET, it's here and only here. But yeah... I'm MIA much so I bet no one remembered I even existed once!
