Started up ET as normal today and as I punched in 74.91.... A box popped up and said want to connect to
202-167-247-135-27960
Of course .... NOT
So somehow I'm stuck in a loop where ET only wants to let me connect to that site.
Something must have gotten into and autoexec config file... Problem is I can't seem to come up with anything on this end to fix it.
I tried wiping it out and uninstalling, didn't work...
Any ideas?
Mark

I think this problem occurs when you don't run ET as administrator (right click the exe, compatibility tab, check 'Run this program as Administrator')

I had the same problem and I think hOff did as well. It just automatically popped up a window asking me if I wanted to redirect when the server list populated. I just used the '/connect [IP]' command and was able to bypass it. P.S. I'm pretty sure this is step 1 by Ton to rid the server of any and all threats, in his attempt to dominate the server.

I had this problem too, after some googling it seemed like it is a somewhat common problem that running the program as administrator solves (though I'm not exactly sure why this is the solution): fearless-assassins.com/topic/24151-unable-to-play-et/Still not really sure what the cause of it is but as far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be anything malicious going on.

I never 'run as administrator' when opening ET. Did the same routine as always. Just that one day it wanted to redirect. Continued opening the way I always do after that day and no problems at all now. Can't explain it...well, except for the Ton theory. Guess I'll stick with that until someone comes up with a better explanation. Even then, I'll probably just blame Ton. I mean he does have destructive tendencies. Look what he does to command posts... Not to mention my face! Yep, it was Ton P.S. I just noticed even your avatar's pistol is bigger than mine. That does it! I'm outta here! No, wait... I see what you're doing there Ton! Man, you are GOOD!

I can actually run ET fine without the run as admin checked as well, it may need to do it once to get some required .dll file or something? I do also run it in compatibility mode for XP, dunno if that helps.
Still don't really understand the whole issue but again I don't think anything malicious is going on.

yep... I still get this... I realised it was followed by some sort of dl for something called "Titanium..." stuff mode... Cannot be bypassed by loading sadministrator (I always run et like that). But, as mentioned above, I just connect directly to the server ip via console - /connect 74.91.113.86:27960 and thats it!

Didn't get a chance to reply but saw in the chat history that Dr.J also experienced this problem , so it seems like its happened to a bunch of us. Looks like the server in question is for the clan Deathrow Inmates ... I certainly have never played there, not sure why so many of us would be directed there by the ET client. Seems kind of weird ... I actually reinstalled ET to be on the safe side (if you do this remember to back up your ETKey file (its called etkey in the etmain folder of your install directory) and your config file!
EDIT: Looking into it further, I saw a post on reddit by someone also being redirected to that server. Also found this:
The common thread seems to be that everyone gets redirected to that DRI server, so it would seem like they must be doing something fishy. After seeing that I would definitely advise towards a re-install ... I dunno what the deal is here but I do know that a re-install took care of my redirection issue ... seems like it might be safe just to flush out your ET folder of anything that could be messing with things.
EDIT again: quote from another place that also seems relevant:
"Yes, some evil owners of already dead clan-servers thought they earn free credit by exploiting the master server, so as to get all the players back at them. So far Splatterladder/Trackbase haven't done anything yet, but I've seen players on the splatterladder shoutbox suggesting to block those redirects using firewall if you have any, you better ask ETc|Jay or schnoog, he owns splatterladder. For the moment, only option to use is direct connect to servers you play on."
Final edit:
Looks like this clan or somebody in it did indeed mess with the master server list as to make everyone join their server.
I don't think re-installing is actually necessary ... I don't remember why I fired up the game to connect to the server as I usually just use the button on the main qaw page, but when I did and saw that redirect message I think I just got scared and wiped everything to be on the safe side.
I guess for now if you don't use a program in conjunction with the connect button on the site, you can join directly by IP without going to the server list (using the console), or create a shortcut for ET that connects to the QAW server. I don't know how much maintenance is going on with ET nowadays but hopefully someone is around to deal with the issue eventually.

Thank you. I just noticed this last night and it was really annoying.

Thank you all for your replies... Gave me some new ideas.... While I was busy being rained on at the VA Beach Airshow, I thought.... How about a system restore....
I did that and the problem went away...
You may note that my colors are screwed up. I'll have to change them. Probably not going to be back until middle of the last week of May. Have to leave tomorrow to head to Texas to do a show there...
Thanks again

I can guarantee this is neither the best, nor the easiest, nor the most informed way to bypass the issue, but here's the tried and true KingMob method-- -Open the server list and quickly hit ESC key before the redirect warning pops up -wait 2.00000000000000001 seconds -open server list again > it will be populated and you won't get the re-direct. That being said, for some reason the QAW server specifically does not appear for me anymore, even when players are on the server. Maybe you all got under the offenders skin at some point Regardless, from this point you are free to hit the "connect to custom IP" button and type in the server IP which will get you in. -KingMob

Am I the only person that joins from the main QAW page!?
For me this has always been the most efficient way since I don't play anywhere else. Don't have to bother with firing up the game and browsing the server list or doing a /connect , just loads straight to QAW.

Sounds way too easy to me, Ton. I work in healthcare so by nature I prefer to go through 50,0000 unneccessary steps before I accomplish anything.

I use HLSW to launch directly to the server, but haven't been on since this issue started. I'll see what happens next time I connect.

Seems Splatterladder (or F|A) has made up a new et.exe that can solve the problem. Check on splatterladder Home page. If someone dares to install it, please do tell how did it work.
Greetings!

To use their new .exe you just paste it into your install folder ... it seems to work fine, though I'm not sure its necessary as I don't get re-directed with the regular .exe anymore either. One of the links splatterladder provided seems to link to the files for Silent mod for some reason, but if you still are having this issue here's the link for the updated .exe fearless-assassins.com/files/file/1755-et-masterlist-hacking-and-redirect-fix-for-players/
