"Faith of our Fathers" by Philip K. Dick is a thrilling yet terrifying short set in an alternate future where communism has conquered the world. It is not so much a criticism on communism itself as it is a look at authoritarianism in general, as well as what psychological role 'God' plays in the totalitarian hierarchy. This story was originally published in an anthology called "Dangerous Visions" edited by Harlan Ellison (extremely worthwhile if you are a fan of classic sci-fi). When approaching P. K. Dick to be included in the anthology, Ellison requested that he create a story about and under the influence of LSD. The result is a satisfying mixture of 1984-esque rigidity and psychedelic grotesqueness. Enjoy Faith of Our Fathers.pdf
