I don't really know a whole lot about AMD Processors.
I usually use Pentium 4.
Any other suggestions?

I think, considering you do not want to sepnd a lot, upgrading your ram is the best option. On the subject of CPUs though I have to say that I am a HUGE fan of AMD. I once had a 500mhz athlon that could run circles around my sisters 700mhz P3 and even my dad's 800mhz P3. Right now I have the same CPU that Diablo posted (3700+) and I can say, without any reservations at all, that if it were placed next to a PC runing an Intel it would EAT it and then have sex with its wife.

Well,
do you guys know of a good proc better than a 3.0 p4?
I could switch it out and keep p4 as a backup

You motherboard has a socket 478 on it, so you can only use other socket 478 CPUs, meaning only P4s.
The highest P4 in s478 is 3.4Ghz, though that chip is extremely rare. Prescott 3.2 is the most likely upgrade, and it would not be worth the money to upgrade only 200Mhz.
Depending on what games/apps you use, more RAM may or may not help anything. THe important thing to remember about RAM is that it does NOT make anything faster, it prevents things from getting slower. Important distinction that is rarely understood.
Using ET as a benchmark, going from 1GB to 2GB will do exactly nothing.
There really arent any video cards that will be appreciably better than the 6800GT for AGP at this point either, though in a bout 3 months the Nvidia GF 7800 will be available for AGP.
You are in kind of a bad situation, you are using almost the best CPU you can for your mobo, with just about the best video card, thus making your upgrade options very limited. You could improve on what you have, yes, but it would be so small an improvement that it wouldnt justify the cost.
Your best bet is to upgrade both CPU and motherboard. You already have 1GB of DDR400, which Athlon64s like, and all your other parts will work just fine in an AMD board. $300 could get you a board and CPU that would be on the low end of A64, thus providing plenty of future upgrade options, and even the slowest A64 (3000+) will smoke your current CPU in games.
