I have DDR1 512mb ram in my comp, but i got a 256mb DDR2 ram off a friend. Will it go with the DDR1? In other words, can i put the DDR2 in with the DDR1 and will it blow my pc up?

It will either not work, or it will use which ever stick the controller sees first. Very small chance it will actually damage anything, but it wont use both sticks either way, so just be safe and dont try it lol.

It wont work... period. lol
Thats like taking a 2 lane highway and a 4 lane highway, putting them right next to each other with the same amount of cars, and expecting all the cars on both sides to take the same amount of time getting there.
Now if he gave you a stick of DDR 266 and a stick of DDR 400 it could be made to work, because in BIOS you can tell the computer to treat it like 2 sticks of DDR266 (but not 400, or the 266 will be fried)
DDR2 is a new thing on AMD machines, and a somewhat new thing on Intel. however... only the Core 2 Duo Extreme has figured out how to use the DDR2 bandwidth effectively, so DDR will remain dominant until AMD figures it out too.
