Yeah, I forgot to tell why I didn't put Super Mario Galaxy, it's because most people didn't get to play it yet but most that played it are saying it's the best. Or at least really good. So it wouldn't be fair... Get it?

That was Super Mario Bros. 2, which in fact was ACTUALLY Doki Doki Panic! in Japan. Super Mario Bros. "The Lost Levels" is the true sequel to Super Mario Bros., but the then President of Nintendo of America felt it was too similar and way too hard ( I agree with him on both of those). So They changed the sprites on Doki Doki Panic! and thus produced Super Mario Bros 2.
Another Fact...
After the release of Super Mario Bros. 2 in America, Japanese consumers got wind of it and wanted the revised version for themselves as well. Nintendo complied and re-re-leased it as "Super Mario Bros. U.S.A.
Oh and it's not a "little turtle dude".... "little mushroom dude" yes. His name is Toad
-Insert "The More You Know" Ad here-

In reality, it's the true sequel.

I think we're naming more the platformer games more than the RPGs
Because I would agree with you, but in terms of platformers Mario 3 wins

Whilst the vote seems to be with regard to platforme Mario games, I'm gonna have to go against the grain and say Mario Kart 64 because it is comfortably what has given me the most enjoyment in the long run. Never will I lose a bout of Mario Kart 64, not even kidding, I beat my flatmate with my feet last year. Foot dexterity FTW ;D

The question is indeed a little flawed.
if we are talking best platformer... the kid in me screams Mario 3... But i have been playing Galaxy and it is awesome.
Overall though i really love the Mario Kart series, and Super Mario RPG will never have a comparison.
