Has anyone seen either of these movies yet? King Kong so far as been very disappointing in the theatres and I dont know that I would actually admit to going to see Chronicles of Narnia. ;D

the books were amazing eagle. sadly though, i've heard the movie (though its decent) isn't nearly what was expected of it, being dubbed "the kiddy version of LOTR."
that kinda hurts.

re: Narnia, Im not sure where that LotR comparison comes from, unless its from people who never read the books and also probably didnt actually watch the movie.
Seeing how its epic fantasy, and how CS Lewis and JRR Tolkein lived on the same street (they even compared notes on their writings), there are bound to be some similarities in the source material. In terms of setting, visual style, and cinematography the movies are indeed very similar. The stories are similar only to the extant that A. theres some unlikely heroes, and B. they have to fight a "dark lord" type figure. Since this is the case with EVERY piece of Epic Fantasy since the Bible, it can be forgiven.
Speaking of the Bible, there is alot of religeous alllegory going on in this movie, though it is not something the average movie-goer is going to notice.
As far as accuracy of the translation from the book, it is pretty darn good TBH, they threw in a couple bits that werent there, and they took out a couple bits that were, but overall it works out well.

I saw King kong Last night...was a very entertaining movie, graphic were simply breathtaking but i do feel that 3 1/2 hours was stretching it a bit. a good 45min could of been edited without damaging the story line. Other than that peter jackson did a faboulus job creating kong and also the natives.

Didn't like either .... as a fan of Peter Jackson pre LOTR (Dead Alive, Bad Taste ect...) I wanted to like King Kong. Character development was so poor. I never felt for any of the characters Jack Black did a piss poor job (or in MHO was poorly cast to play a role much above his talent) Even Kong I never felt for ... This was a waste of money and of talent. tisk tisk.!!! It was Jurassic Park 4 + Godzilla (american version)
As far as Narnia... it was too Disney. I almost like it more because i went in knowing it was Disney so when it came out soft and campy and PC..it was no shock. It did feel much like LOTR and there were some shot for shot scenes that made it worse. But as Zohar said the epic adventure was done almost to perfection by Peter Jackson so every movie of that type will bear some comparison.
I dunno I was let down by both.
Tom throw in your two cents !
