As a matter of fact it does, Tarantino & Rodriguez both made films...I'm assuming to pay homage to the cheesily horrid 70's drive-thru-sploitation movies.

Hmm Rob gets a lot of undue flak. His movies were not well received, but keep in mind he did model them after his favorite movies, those horror movies from the late 60's-70's. So in that sense they are well done, & the soundtracks are usually quite good.
& the segment he did for GRINDHOUSE was probably one of the better parts of said movie...

i saw grindhouse friday night...
i guess i am a bit of a tarantino fan but this movie was somewhat disappointing overall. the trailers for the fake movies were great especially thanksgiving. planet terror was pretty terrible - not even the fact that rose mcgowan as a gogo dancer/wooden prosthesis turned machine gun/ lawrence of arabia could save that. there was several moments during this part where i looked at my watch and wondered how much worse could this get and tbh i have not done that in a LONG time. yes there were some unexpectedly funny scenes but it could not make up for the movies shortcomings. death proof: this was actually pretty watchable. the best part of this feature was the conversation between all the girls - it surprisingly rapidly built up character and emotion and was entertaining. the car chase scene was intense. although the ending was quite cathartic i wished the movie was a bit longer. the soundtrack throughout both films/previews was great - perhaps not as good as say kill bill but better than many. overall grade: b-

The trailers were indeed funny,"Werewolf Women of the S.S." was done by Rob Zombie. As for Deathproof, Tarantino injected his usual scripted conversations...however they went on FOR-EVER...the closest I can equate this to is watching Clerks again after seeing it 5 times before. I found myself wanting Kurt Russell's character (the bad guy) to win.
