On my Final Fantasy VI Advance cartridge, I'm currently running a low-level run of Final Fantasy 6.
What this is, essentially, is beating the whole game while keeping the average level of your party to about 7.
Right now, I just beat the Phantom Train and am on the Veldt getting Rages for Gau. My characters are currently:
Sabin - 6 Cyan - 7 Gau - 7
Locke and Celes beat Tunnel Armor both being Level 5, and the biggest pain was beating Ultros while my characters were Level 3 (Terra), Level 6 and Level 6 (Edgar and Sabin).
You can look on youtube to find some ridiculous videos (Like a level 6 terra soloing Kefka. And I mean final battle kefka).

Lol wtf?? I've never played FFVI but maybe I ought to. If I do, you do realise I'm nagging you for strats at every twist and turn of the game right? Are there low-level run throughs possible in any other ff games? I'm a bit of a completionist when I play ff games, low-level run through looks like fun

In fact, if you want to have the strongest party you can at the end of FF8, you essentially MUST play the first two disks and most of the third in LLG mode. You can make up all kinds of challenges like this - try just playing a favorite RPG, but never use Items, or spells, or what have you. Make combos if those are too easy by themselves.

Hmm that's interesting? How does one not get experience from battles in FF8 tho? As is, I played through and have one save where Ultimecia gets floored after 5 rounds I'd love to play through again in LLG mode, will give it a try.

Basic things for all RPGs to not gain levels:
Run from all random encounters, no matter what.
The reason LLG works in FFVI is that bosses don't give any EXP, so it's basically run from random encounters, fight bosses.
There are only a few places where you're forced to actual gain EXP.
Btw, I'm getting more Rages for Gau and giving people spells, but I'm at the point of the first Opera House visiting (Ultros 2nd fight).
No one has gained a shred of EXP so far.

Learn Card with Qezocotl first thing, then Card all your enemies. Youll get AP, but no XP. The cards you gain from this also let you do card-mod early, so you can get some pretty high level junctions happening early as well. Carding all enemies will supply you with Items and Magic enough that you should never have to Draw again. (except those Ultima points!) THe Uber-fication starts when you have the GFs that give stat bonuses for level ups. (I cant remember which ones ANyway, you get those GFs, put Ability *4 on one, and load up with stat bonuses. STR,MAG, SPD, VIT is what I do, then just level them up. With this type of run, you can usually beat all forms of Ultimecia before she even gets a turn.

Did you actually do a low-level run Zohar or are you just quoting a guide you found?

Nah thats off the top of my head. I do reccomend consulting a guide at good ol' GameFAQs before starting an LLG though, they go much more in-depth with the strategy than I did. I just gave the highlights. I have done many low level runs in FFVIII, but its very different than LLG in any other game, since the enemies level along with your characters, for most of the game it is more beneficial and much, much easier to avoid EXP. Ive seen people who dont draw or junction try to play it, and they can get to the middle of disk 2 before they are crying in their beer about only doing 120 damage at level 70. I can have my guys at level 8 doing 5k by the end of disk 1

Bad guys don't level up with you in FF6, that makes it hard :< and time consuming, you spend like 60% of a low level ff6 run on the Veldt learning magic and getting rages for Gau.

Well, I was flying through my low level play through FF8 but I can't seem to get through the Galbadian Garden invasion FMV without a game crash :/ Not a smidgeon of EXP and I've already had my first 9999 damage dealt, I'm gonna have to try buy another FF8 disc 2 I think

Omega can be tough... he is lvl 100 no matter what you are.
You can of course abuse Invincible Moon or Holy Wars....

Yea I'm afraid I had to resort to using a 2 or 3 Holy Wars in the end - I don't think it is humanly possible without invincibility of some kind Demolition Shot, Duel and Renzokuken saw the victory through after that though. Very rewarding it felt too. Thanks for the recommendation, not enjoyed a ff game that much in a while.
