Hey, first time posting, so if you don't know me I play as "The Mystery".
Who has played Fight Night Round 4?
Things I like:
Better Graphics
Better Knockdowns
More Boxers
More Boxer's Stats
More Training Games
Calendar in Career Mode
Bobbing and Weaving
Cool counter punches
Things I don't like:
Overpowered AI
Instant Knockdowns
Can't modify an existing career character
No money in career mode
Items no longer add stats
No parrying
Clinching sucks
No button punching
Signature moves suck
Can't change cheap shots
Can't choose trainers
Point system in between rounds BLOWS
Knockdown recovery BLOWS
At first glance this game looks superior to Round 3. Better graphics, more boxers, more training games and brutal, fast paced, face mashing gameplay. Well, guess what, that's about all this game has going for it. The developers for some reason decided to tether the players choices in several categories. You can no longer switch your control scheme to allow for button mashing. They removed taunting from the game, and have severely limited the number of signature moves. They completely removed your ability to choose between trainers and no longer award money for winning fights. In addition, items no longer add stats to your player and the color scheme for item customization lacks jet black. That's right, if you planned on having a mean lookin' mother clad in all black gear, tough. They've completely removed parrying from the game and blocking consists of holding either up, or down. Once knocked down you'll find that you're no longer greeted by the familiar dual circles scheme, but are faced with a confusing and unresponsive... mess. In between rounds you can no longer heal your character yourself, but must choose between 3 available options... You can heal your health, stamina, or damage? I know, health and damage should be the same thing, and stamina.. well... how do you heal stamina ('roids)? To make matters worse, you earn points to spend in between rounds by doing certain things during the previous round. If you land >50% of your punches you get 12pts. If you land >70% of your punches you get 16pts. If you knock someone down you get 15pts etc. However, I find that if you completely annihilate someone and they only hit you once, they end up getting WAY more points than you because they're at 100% accuracy or w/e. Stupid, I know. As for computer AI, your opponents will have the ability to dodge and counter EVERYTHING you throw, wow. So here I am, facing a timid little computer and I land 60/75 punches on this dude's face, knocking him down twice in one round. We finish the round and move to the corner where he has 54pts to recover and I have.. 24. During the next couple of rounds the computer just runs around the ring dodging everything I throw at him. Eventually, I get annoyed and start swinging like a barbarian. The AI catches on and counter punches me ONCE for a KO victory. Very, very frustrating. Overall I'd say get this game if you like technical boxing and can control your temper, but if you're a button mashing, blood thirsty maniac, don't.
