Hello, I've noticed that my pc lags more on et..or maybe I'm getting older It is like a hardware lag..not my ping..or could it be a virus/spyware? I dont have antivirus installed because I dont use the pc that much..just youtube, mail, qaw, porn(just kidding),winamp and msn.. I play at 1680x1050 resolution(always did) Sometimes it "hardware lags" even on stacraft..that damn shitty game is like 12years old and my system should be waaaaaay superior to its requirements..i dont know what to think. :S Any ideas are appreciated

At one moment, my computer starts lagging like hell. Few month laters, I killed the harddrive lol. It was full of bad sectors making it laggy like hell. Also killed my windows one time (BSOD => unmountable_boot_volume or something like that). Maybe if the computer is old, it could be hardware problem like harddrive or memory RAM. You should run a test of your hardware. I runned MemTest for RAM and the software of the manufacturer for the harddrive (in fact I runned before the Dell tool but if you don't have a Dell, you won't have it ahah).
Other thing should be a virus ya. Like, you can try running anti-virus and anti-spyware. You can try scandisk or defragmentation. But damn, running high resolution make games lagging you know? When I'm playing Quake Wars, I run 1024x780 because if I try 1680x1050 it lags so much I can't aim. I guess if you always run that resolution and it was not lagging, so problem is not there.

Well I dont know Parche. Last year, my laptop started lagging like hell, lot of problems of memory, IE and firefox doing error 404 and 405 all time, more and more BSOD. I thought it was memory just like you so investigate with many softwares but all was fine. I was about to give up searching why until I tried the Dell Utility Tools that showed me that my harddrive was full of bad sectors. So I made a backup and tried to restore my harddrive with the manufacturer software (thought it was about to fix or "block" the bad sectors so I would be able to install windows back)... at the end of process, it told me it was too full of bad sectors and I should contact the manufacturer support (well, useless since waranty ended ahah). Just bought another harddrive and it fixed the problem. That's why I told our friend to check for both (memory first and harddrive if it sounds that memory is ok). I searched for months before I solve my problem so I'm just telling you what happened for me and hope it'll help. Maybe it wont but at least you'll start searching somewhere. Pretty hard to find what's the problem when you don't have any idea what to look for.

Prevents pb hogging the RAM frequently. However, you've got to do this every map it seems. so better bind it to one of the keys so it's easier. Thanks to [glow=red,2,300]rapture[/glow] for that tip.

The /pb_sleep 500 does appear to work. But after u type that in u also have to type in /pb_writecfg following the first command. I don't think it has to be done every map,but I know for sure every time u start to play.I guess it can't hurt to do it every map just to be certain. Also make sure ur maxpackets and snaps are at a reasonable setting.

I'm not sure if everyones maxpackets should be the same. I think it matters where you are in the world and what kind of net service you use. For me, my maxpackets are low, like 20-30...if I raise it up to like 70 my ping goes higher. So which makes me assume...the lower the maxpackets the better your ping? As fior the rates,I think mine is 25000...not sure what it does but i have seen ppl with 4000 rate and they lag all to hell.
The commands for those are: /cl_maxpackets # /rate #

Download Gamebooster majorgeeks.com/Game_Booster_d6148.html it closes all the background programs your computer is running freeing up your ram and processing power that would be used to run these in the background. It can be used to restore them when your done playing to.

The processes it shuts down are the same ones that you can find in task manager and shut down manually? or are there other processes that are running that you can't shut off via the task manager?

It mostly shuts down the one's in taskmanager, there might be a few extra one's it shuts down I haven't checked really closely but its alot faster and easier to do then manually closing them all and it restores them for you after so thats nice to. I have 64 bit windows 7 and it works fine with my comp parche

I think it would be /bind 1 pb_sleep 500 .... that may not be right cause pb_sleep is a cmd and there's probably something you have to put first but I'm not sure what it would be haha.
