I've been having this lag prob since I started playing back this game. My game experiences strong lag for 2-3 min and then goes back to normal. Annoying thing is that this happens 3-8 times a match depending on the match length. I'm pretty sure this is happening when pb does its scans because my game runs fine on servers with pb off. Here is a short demo of what i mean: www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=550368In demo it shows lag spikes but that is not what is happening when i play. The green line in the lagometer is breaks constantly, dropping my fps down to around 6 on the break. Here is pic of breaks: Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the club. It is a PB issue and the only ways to fix it would be in the other thread. Even those methods don't help sometimes.

Yo Razi. Here's some things you could try.
1. Defrag your harddrive while you're in safe mode. (F8 at startup I believe, depending on your computer)
2. Pb commands: bind [ pb_sleep 500 bind ] pb_security 0 bind \ pb_lan 1
^ Above commands are floating around in the forums. Reason I bind these is because they somehow reset themselves each time you connect to the server.
Also according to Echo, when you start up your game and before you connect to any server, type this into your console: /seta pb_system 0
You only need to the above command once.
3. And some common sense stuff would be to scan for any spyware/malware/virus etc. For this I use spybot-search&destroy.
4. Also according to Rezin, its a good idea to stabilize your fps. If your fps jump around a lot.. that could result in those wide gaps in your lagometer. I don't know if you know but to view the fps do /cg_drawfps 1. Once having done this, set your /cl_maxpackets to the same number as your maxfps.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice but I have already tried all those things and none of them helped. Any more suggestions are welcome. BTW, Quick it Rafi not Razi.

Rafi - this has got to be the single most annoying thing on the server other than Quick running around like he has fire ants in his pants. It happens for the very first time when I join the server (for around 2-3 mins), and then just like you said, every 8-10 mins for another 2-3 mins. The game is virtually unplayable at those times - I get sick of bumping into walls and accidentally dropping my mortar on my foot. I don't mind a heavy red lag spike (server lag) every once in a while - but these short consistent green spikes are irritating as heck. Most players on the server experience this - but there are a few that don't. I'd like to hear from them about any tweaks etc. The issue is most certainly a PB issue and like you said has to do with anytime it does MD5 scans (and checksums) on local files. PB (evenbalance) mentions that there are some apps that "interfere" with its scans. Apparently this issue started sometime early last year (with one of their updates) and effects servers running ETPub and ETPro. There have been several bug requests filed with evenbalance - but no fixes have been provided to my knowledge. There are hints that the issue could be client hardware related - but the guy who posts in the following link doesn't think so. The link also provides a response from evenbalance. www.adawolfa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&p=651Another poster mentioned that PBUpdate does not update all files and suggested downloading PB manually - but this seems like another shot in the dark. The config settings mentioned above regarding PB_Sleep, etc. have not really helped fix this particular issue either .

Hmmmm I don't experience these lag spikes and I can't say I have any special tweaks. I run gamebooster before I play and close all my background programs, and every once in awhile run pbscv. Sorry for the complete lack of insight :/ lol

Had this on my old pc. Still get it sometimes, usually on Fueldump and Goldrush. This may be placebo but when I lower cl_maxpackets from 100 to 30 on Fueldump it seems to help. I always get yellow mountains on my lagometer when entering the dump at main entrance. Other than disabling AV, doing all the pb settings, capping fps, lowest detail config, closing background things (including Xfire/steam). also if you have nvidia card theres some stuff you can turn off in the settings that is supposed to help.

It starts to be hard stuff to handle Echo. XD Wolf was always good for me. It starts to mess up now. I don't really want to change all the configs of my computer for that ahahahahahaha. I'm too lazy. If we are lagging, there is a problem somewhere.. why not find it and fix it... I guess it's not supposed to be players to solve the problem but to the server. Mehhh :/

Well this might sound funny but PB is always a pain in the ass in highly populated servers, i do remember playing on ETPro in a 6v6 format and it turned unplayable in the last few years and ETPro always have had an amazing antilag system but due to this instability most leagues decided to turn PB off, the point is that it wasn't a big deal and it worked fine cause there are always people taking care of the anti-cheating policy but in this case there are only few solutions trying changing the cvars that you guys posted here or turning pb OFF of course that it would be the easiest solution but it would look bad to the server environment.
