I saw the first REC, need to watchsecond part. I do not really like zombies movies - it always make me laugh But this one.. Scared crap outta me! I almost watched it with my hands on eyes. Watching this movie You feel like You are walking with this camera in that house. Beginning was little boring but after couple minutes I could not take eyes off the screen Also didn't really know what this film was about, but really wanted to see it to the end to get know this.. Film was really good cause no special effects there and others 'fireworks' that spoil all the atmosphere of fear.. And granny was scaaaaaryyyy ;D

Yeah, I was really impressed. The original [REC] was remade in the US as Quarantine. As usual, the remake pales in comparison even though it is basically a direct copy. Avoid.
I think you'll really like [REC]2. It takes place right after the events of the first film and in the same location. In fact, it begins with the ending of [REC]. It is also written and directed by the same two guys that did the first film, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza.
I never really looked at them as zombie films to be honest (and I am a zombie fanatic). Similar to 28 Days Later (and it's excellent follow-up 28 Weeks Later), I see them as infected or... something else possibly.
Did you watch the original with English or Polish subtitles?

Better in spanish! Haha! True! Actually that is why I linked the original trailers, so people wouldn't be distracted by subtitles. I don't speak Spanish, but now that I've seen both movies a few times, I sometimes don't even glance down at the subtitles because I know what they are saying and I can better immerse myself in the experience. EDIT: btw, LOVE that girl in the audience that literally screams in the final clip lol.

I hate all remakes! Specially US. No offence, but US films.. uhm.. sux? Not that I hate all movies from USA, but I really enjoy watching original Ring or The Grudge. All movies remakes lost their soul. So I'm not even going to see REC remake. But for sure I will watch second part of REC, but before that I need to see first one again,, You have right, It's not really zombie movie. But It has something from zombies. I watched both 28 movies and like only first one (28 days later). 28 weeks later wasn't so good as first one. Dunno why - I just don't get excited like at first part. However it was good movie (I liked that scene when helicopter smashed all this zombies But let's back to REC. I watched original version with Polish subtitles. Don't like lector - I get more into movie when there are subtitles. Lector can waste movie with his voice and bad translation. Btw, I approached this movie three times - after 10 min I fall a sleep ;D Couldn't overcome myself to watch it ;D But good that I finally made it

[REC] and [REC]2 were made in Spain. You may not like the original depending on what specifically you didn't care for in the remake. If it is the handheld camera "you are there" documentary style filming, then pass on it. But if it was something else, definitely give them a try. Zombie thread sounds good! And Shaun of the Dead was awesome!

All movies remakes lost their soul. So I'm not even going to see REC remake. I would agree with you. I think there were one or two US remakes that were decent, but can't for the life of me remember what they are. You've got mail (again). ;D I'm a big fan of Robert Carlyle and enjoy any movie he is in, but with that said I still think as a sequel goes it is solid. It didn't just rehash the plot of the original to the point of being just a remake with more money. And yeah, the helicopter scene was the standout of the movie. The first time I watched the DVD I kept replaying that scene. I was in zombie heaven. Some people may not know what you mean by "lector." In Poland, most foreign films and tv shows are dubbed using the Gavrilov Translation technique, which uses a single person doing a voice-over for all the actors. You can still hear the original actors' voices, but you have a narrator doing the translation. The word "lektor" in Polish means "reader" and is often used when referring to both the technique and the person doing the translation. And I agree, that would get on my nerves. I watched Legion with lector dubbing and had to turn it off. Can't speak for the translation, but it took me out of the film too much hearing the overlapping voices. I hope the English subtitles will be okay.

[Rec] was pure awesome. I have yet to see [rec]2 since I can't find it And Shaun of the Dead was simply hilarious! There aren't many zombie movies I like, but those two and 28 Days Later are on the list that I do like. 28 Weeks Later just didn't have the same feeling as Days. It was more action packed and abandoned the whole "you are alone in this world" feeling I got from the first one. It had little atmosphere.
