The thing is I am on Macbook and since that OS isn't pretty suitable with ET I decided to run a bootcamp with XP Pro.
Now, in XP Pro OS ET seems to work just fine until I face some FPS drop issue.
I am playing, say on a random public, and suddenly my FPS drop to stable 30-45 FPS, then they go up to 125 stable (which I have /com_maxFPS "125"). Now the big deal is that it keeps happening for several minutes, in this annoying cicle: 30 FPS, 125 FPS, 30 FPS, 125 FPS... f*ck it!
I am not sure if its a overheating prob, considering is a laptop and cooler system isn't just enough or if its something else?
Any clue?
Some info you should know:
Intel Core duo 2G RAM Mx518 I switch ghz to 1000 with a Mouse Rate Switcher I downloaded. NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 512MB I turned off the Vsyc thing on NVIDIA Control Panel and I set like every option that gave me performance. Audio Cirrus Logic Audio HD
I also check the task manager everytime I play and I end some processes like Xfire and stuff that would affect ET and its need of processor.
Not that good into the computers thing but would be nice if anyone would give me a hand.

Sounds exactly like thermal throttling to me. It does 125 for awhile, gets too hot, throttles back until its in a good place, then goes full steam for a few again, till it gets too hot again, and so on. I would suggest a cooling pad if it were a PC, I dont know if they make such things for Macs... it would be admitting that they might get a little hot, and Apple will never admit that there's anything wrong with anything they make, so...

naw but apple would publicly announce abandoning the apple two line, thus, bitch slapping all the software developers and recent IIgs-former IIc,IIe owners rather than letting things just go till we all bought the macs... what a dumbarse.. Jobs anyway..

I was thinking just same thermal thing. Funny part is that the problem appears like couples of weeks ago, and before, it wasn't bothering at all. Evenmore, my little brother has the same Macbook of his own, instead he has Windows 7 as O/S and I have to say theres no FPS issue and stuff for him.
I am about to try something out. I am thinking of switching the r_mode to the 4 value, coz it has me thinking that less resolution would force less the usage of image quality, therefore the processor would of be less busy and needed to work less. Probably this is just noobery thoughts but I will try it anyways.
On the other hande, it may exist cooling pads for Mac, or at least for any laptop. I think I have saw them before on a Macstore.
Thnx for the help guys. :DD
