Hrmmm where to start.
When playing ET, my motherboard temps hit about 80 C... this is a laptop. Processors hit about 70C. From the last time I got my laptop fixed (due to shorts on the mobo)... I didn't bother opening it up to see if they actually did anything. So yesterday I did... and I had a talk with bacon in the past regarding using thermal paste on the CPU. I opened up my laptop up, and saw their work regarding how much paste they put on the CPU... well... it seemed like they didn't do a good job of it. The paste actually spilled over the center square piece, where there was additional parts on the cpu (other chips). And I did a little bit of research, and that could potentially cause a capacitive issue - and the chips on the CPU "can" short.
So my question is... how do you apply it properly and what is a effective paste (eg. Artic Silver) (sorry bacon, I lost the link you had sent me).
Laptop Specs:
- AMD Turion™ X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor RM-70
- ATI RadeonTM 3100 Graphics with 256MB-1519MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.

Ps. That yellow covering actually has spilled paste underneath it.
ohhhhhhhh....my.....SKETCH.
*chills*
those BASTARDS!
thats some pretty lame work to say the least> makes the compound and its purpose WORTHLESS. nothing some 90% isopropyl alcohol and a few coffee filters cant handle though...
