Im just suggesting this to have less headaches when trying to have some fun Most of time it only works when few people are playing and do the agreement and no one join during the game. As soon as someone else join (and even more when it's not a reg) then that person wont respect the agreement and people will start not caring anymore LOL. So kind of true, most of time, it's useless.

It's frustrating trying to enforce an agreement that has no repercussions if broken, which kinda makes it pointless. This map gets ruined so much, in so many different ways, that having the agreement is really just a baked-in potential source of disappointment when on axis. Speaking of Baked, he told me he wouldn't do the back-for-xp thing anymore - not sure if that stuck. This goes way beyond one person though.
***** Is there a way to obtain a map pack for this map that contains all the changes (from original) that we like, but does NOT have a dyno-able back door? It would be a great fix to this problem.... satchel gen is the only way to open... ****
My final opinion is that if those in the know can play by the agreement... great, maybe we'll have a good game every third moon. I'm just tired of trying to hammer it in all the time and would rather not have to - it almost always gets ruined anyway, and is often a huge distraction.

About that 'happily ever after frag' i am a bit worried myself though. The map can be over very quick, i already see myself losing with zero frags and praying the map to be over soon People also might leave because of the 'feeling' of unfairness in a 3 vs. 3 (or uneven). Then the map after it 'the more the merry' isnt the adagium. I fully agree it's when too few are on axis no real chance of defending both sides is when its get over so quick and its not a fair and balanced fight, short of while on the hill no real chance of getting over from there to the back and defusing the dyno. Seen some are over in maybe two minutes or so. When the back dyno is set all one can try to do is /kill, but most often the spawn timer is an added delay as well as having to change the spawn point. QAW is all about having truly 'fair' maps to play on and certainly I and we all want that, but when its just a few on axis and having to defend two far away from another spots its not fair to the axis.

Did you have an idea as to an appropriate solution? I do..... if the map pack cant be replaced by a new one as described two posts above, the obvious solution should be..... remove Battery , replace with Bacerace at 1x per campaign, increase Railgun to 2x per campaign. Wow!!! right? Perfect, right!!!!!?

There are some great suggestions but as it sits, this is the ORIGINAL MAPS server and will remain as such. The other maps that are suggested to replace battery are always available on customs. I do not want to ruin a good thing seeing as whenever we mess with the lineup of originals it has a tendency to have a negative impact. I do believe there was a mod that kept the back door from being dynoed but then we would have to switch the entire server mod for that effect...then again I could be wrong about that. Either way I agree with Oz and it should just be played as normal (of course if others agree to the change I have no issue) but this will not be enforced by QAW. When do all these agreements end anyways? I've always wondered why there was an "agreement" to this map for being too big and hard to defend and yet there really aren't any for other big maps such a fuel dump.

Nah dont replace battery. Its not on rotation as often as other maps lol.
But we should bring back custom fridays. Maybe make a vote so players can choose the map on custom could help make the server more popular?

We use to have it set up to where you could vote which map to play on the customs server at the end of a map but I'm not sure if it got affected with the tourney map switches that's been happening lately.

I think the voting option got wiped out along the way. I think so too lol. Still only some maps are avaiable on custom but maybe NOT the fav map of reg players.

It definitely did. I got a whole one other person to join me for some Baserace yesterday, but couldn't access it after two map finishes. I was mostly kidding about replacing Battery, but if we could get that no-dyno version,it might be worth the cost and time, both of which should be minimal. I would imagine it would be a better map THAT way (with axis having more of an advantage), than with the current iteration which is not going to be pleasant for axis 95% of the time... Worth at least looking into..

This is not a "rule" mcbain. This is just an agreement we take at beginning of the game. Go read server rules. It's not written anywhere. So it's not mandatory. My bad typo...I know and everyone knows it isn't a published rule!

Im just suggesting this to have less headaches when trying to have some fun I am online quite frequently when there are 5 or less total people on the server...I just don't usually hang around for hours like that, so may not see the map in the rotation. If you are trying to have "fun" when no one is online and you want to allow people to attack the back of this map, you will have a bad time. You can end this map so fast if you attack back and axis doesn't have people to defend it. Since it isn't a rule and it is an agreement...what exactly are we changing then? If people want to agree to something, let them...if they don't, so be it.

Like I said at the end of my post, “Just my opinion” NOT trying to “change” anything. Simply stating my opinion.(like many others here) The reason I mention the time of day when it happens is because it seems in your original post that you don’t think it’s a problem or that what I’m saying is not true… I’m done with this thread. Cheers!

If people want to agree to something, let them...if they don't, so be it. Good question. If an agreement can be made, no reason why not. Worth a try I suppose. I happen to see many rounds of Battery in a day of gaming usually... you never know what you're going to get. I think sadly, the point is, is that this map is a wasted attempt at finding a fair solution during gameplay. You know how it goes... an agreement is made, then someone joins later on allies and dynos, or worse, allies get sick of losing and dyno back due to perceived "balance" (allies must always win). As such its not worth the blah blah blah blah blah blah blah + distractions since there's nothing that can be done. But hey, I will stamp my SAP stamp to follow the agreement anytime I'm on allies. Lets upload the NO DYNO ON BACK version though!! DOOOOIT, DOOOOIT, DOOOOIT!!!! [SAP] <--- stamp.... red melted wax

I understand your frustration and the unwritten rule could lead to several global chats going back and forth that can bleed over from warmup into the actual map. I guess it just hasn't bothered me that much. I am not down playing how much it may bother you though. Good discussion.

My two cents (sorry for being late to the 'recent' discussion):
I feel the 5 axis or less rule is a good one. 5 axis or less is too hard to defend both front and back. I respect this unwritten/gentleman's rule at all times. At the same time, by limiting attacks to just the front ramp, it is like shooting fish in a barrel for Axis, especially with a lvl4 FO. So the other side of the gentleman's agreement is that a Covie should not satchel the ramp if axis have 5 players or less.
As you know, 99% of the time, I am on Allies. The only time I break the rule is when Axis breaks it first. Here is my general rule-of-thumb: "You satchel the ramp, I violate your back door." Simple as that. If Axis chooses to satchel ramp, then they agree to free you from the back door restriction. This again seems to me to be the unspoken understanding on this map.
Then again, as I have seen in the past, I may be the only one that feels this way.

Although difficult it is not impossible to defend this map with less than 5. Just the other night it was 3v3 and axis won that map even with the back door blown. I say just play the map because people have the tendency to argue more over the agreement then play the map itself. Also there was no discussion of agreement made during that map the other night. When the back door got blown no one said anything except for ton (who was the one that blew the door open). I've noticed a trend lately of everyone wanting to make exception or rule changes for every little thing on maps lately and it has become a detriment to admins in my opinion. Too many exceptions take away from the game and at what point do we just stop playing a map because it's unfair?

+1 Slaughter... Back door blown or intact many of us will keep doing what in game has to be done. The other day I joined as axis, we were 4vs4 and I went covie to blow the ramp: I guess the agreement had been made cause I had to apologize for blowing it. I don't really see the problem, I just go along and do what I think is best for having a good time.
Greatings, PHB.

Don't worry about the satchel mate, I will take any heat for anyone breaking this agreement just tell them I told you to do so if anyone complains

I agree completely, although I have no problem with allies blowing back door if no 'gentlemen's agreement' has been made. It helps hone much needed defensive skills even if I am too old to be running from front to back to gun to front to back... you get the idea. Whew, I'm tired. Time for a nap.
