All native american..and one of the most nutritious foods known: (should add: any meat can be used doesn't need to be beef) 3lbs lean beef 1lb suet or tallow (fat chunks) optional:dried fruit or nuts : maple syrup (sweetener) thin slice beef and dehydrate, dry in oven, dry in sun (your option) melt suet or tallow in pan and boil to fry out any skin or meat, and strain liquid fat out (should have about 3/4 cup rendered fat) grind dried meet into powder (food processor) or ( I use my coffee grinder ) mix warm fat and meat together in bowl -- along with optional things such as maple syrup and dried fruit or nuts (maple syrup will hugely improve taste) press into quart jar or container of your choice. may be stored at room temperature -- and will not go bad for anywhere from 8-15 yrs also helps if kept in a dark cupboard out of light approx. one handful = 1 meal I hiked for 2 weeks in the Smokey Mtns. and ate nothing but diff. concoctions of this the entire time. WARNING: The extremely high fat content of this product could cause weight gain if not accompanied by strenuous exercise --but like i said only a handful makes a complete meal
