OK got ET working in Backtrack5...been working on this for some time, as this is not an OS designed for gaming . Had to make massive changes throughout and still havn't got sound going. The alsa sound hack that works for other linux distro's doesnt seem to work quite the same here. Any way before getting to all that i need to get the thing violation free..keep on getting a game integrity error (i failed to record for reference the violation #) Anyone know just what game intefrity errors are caused by? Not sure where to start looking.. PB, my instalation, cvars...?

No need to update PB anymore cowboy, support for ET has been dropped by Evenbalance. You *do have to update it after a fresh install, but just get that latest (last) files from etkey.org put them in your pb/ folder and that's it. Running the update tool often breaks a running config IME...best to back up all the files in your pb folder if you aren't having any problems and keep them somewhere to copy them back if/when needed. If you are getting the game integrity violation thing even with the latest pb files, I'm not sure what it could be. Even when it was supported, documentation for pb was kind of skint on details (trade secret protection or some other such nonsense no doubt). Good luck, but YMMV. ...of course, if all else fails, you could always try shutting off your hack /s lol

part of the problem could also be i didnt actually install the game on bt5...er i actually copied it from my ubuntu instalation straight into the same locations in bt5. I might have missed some files or folders as well..I am going to get this! ..but it is something to do w/ pb...

All fixed including audio..re-copied my pb folder and placed in both the .etwolf folder and the /usr/local/games folder. that fixed the game problems. As for audio apparently the pulse audio on fresh bt5 installs doesnt work..or the script isn't right..i found how to fix it on bt's site. Only played a couple games tonight..but so far, game has run the smoothest ive ever gotten it. In an hr playin time I didnt lag ounce, not even on the lag dump THNX GUYS!
