Things have come a long way for linux in the last yr or two..I rememember way to much cmd-line which took me hours to figure out, since i was new to linux at the time. Now there is this nice download straight from splash damage. ET for LINUXIve noticed however there are a lot of dead links for the et-sdl-sound fix, so I have uploaded it for anyone that may need it. ET-SDL-SoundTo make this work is very simple. place the et-sdl-sound file really anywhere you want. Mine is in the wolfet folder on my desktop, where I have all my maps and files backed up. After installing game right click the shortcut, and edit as shown in pictures. Under the command line ./et-sdl-sound which will allow the game to automatically locate the et-sdl-sound file. You also want to make sure you have allow exec-ing file as program checked. Depending on how your permissions are set this may not be checked already for you. and for everyone that wonders why I described and took screenshots to the last detail..er hopefully. Because linux to the newbie can be a formidable thing indeed

woohoo already some good. Yea I dont even remember whether it's pulse or alsa that causes the problem, but the sound deffinetly isnt gonna work without the et-sdl-sound or other fix. ..and if there ever was another fix I am not aware of it Good Luck man Edit: though its possible as new systems come out there may be an integrated fix someday..noot sure, ET maybe to old.

Well nice timing! I just installed Linux on my comp (I choose Mageia to begin), I get bored by windows (I got a dual boot though, never knows!!). I read there was some problem with ET sounds, that's why i didn't erase windows from my comp to play ET (if i had a little more time to play it tough...).
I am downloading ET for linux right now, i'll try it in the next few hours!
Thx!

Hey Cowboy, Bishada,
Seems I have some issues, when i launch ET, i got an error message : libx11.so.6 cannot open shared object file. Seems like it's because I got a 64b arch, and ET needs 32b librairies.
How did you manage to get it work?
I don't know how to solve this problem yet, i'll dig to solve this as soon as possible, i want to play ET on my hollidays!!!
see ya!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeah!! Succeeded in installing ET, sound working too!! I had to install numerous 32bit librairies. Even for the et-sdl-sound fix i had to install libalsa for 32bit + libasla plugins. See ya tomorrow!!
