I wasn't sold on the first 2 teasers, but the official trailer is something I've watched over and over. I hate JJ for the enabler of making Star Trek what it is now... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I do think Star Wars is more his territory, and goddamnit if I'm not excited for this movie. No annoying kids (that we know of), no annoying aliens (not that meesa know of chomp chomp...?). It's looking right and good. Born in 76, I still was never all that into Episode 4, but 5 and 6 were excellent. This new one looks like it'll be quite good. Enjoy? www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGbxmsDFVnE

What is SW?
...but really, seems to have more of an original flare to it.
I do question the hate on the new Star Trek movies though, I liked the first one more so than the second but still find 'em both entertaining with a solid cast.

I'm very excited for the movie. I think both of the trailers are very good. Plus, I trusted J.J. Abrams from the moment I learned he was directing it. You might disagree Spaceage, but I found both of his Star Trek movies to be excellent, actually. That being said, I've only seen Wrath of Khan out of the originals and I'm not a real big Star Trek geek. But based on those films and all that he promised for The Force Awakens (no midi-chlorians, more practical effects, etc.) I think he'll do justice to this movie. And if the film has a good story line and is well directed, it will likely propel Abrams to a superstar level comparable to Ridley Scott or Christopher Nolan. I also wouldn't be surprised if it breaks every box office record there is. Avatar grossed almost 2.8 billion dollars... I could see this one making 3 billion.
Oh, and I was thinking about making a post about this movie. Just never got around to it.

I just miss the the Star Trek universe of 1966-2001. Its not the franchise's fault the last 2 movies were weak. They were just full of bad writing and ideas that made people not enjoy them. I just hope SOMETHING is made that is from that universe (besides the recent fan-made movies that I refuse to watch). On another note, if you guys hate Episodes 1 and 2 of SW as much as I do, and have an hour to spare, check-out the movie reviews from RedLetterMedia on YT. Pretty funny stuff - www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI

Gotta love Star Wars. I am looking forward to new one. I enjoy J.J. Abrams' work and love the fact that he gives a shout out to the original cast. Growing up on the original 4-5-6, I don't know how you could not be a fan. Episode 1 grew on me some, 2 I still find to be a snooze fest, and 3 had some merit. I do question the hate on the new Star Trek movies though, I liked the first one more so than the second but still find 'em both entertaining with a solid cast. ^^What Ton said^^

I think JJ did a great job on the new Star Trek movies. I prefer the first one over the second one. I hope, like everyone else, that he doesn't make it difficult to tell the two franchises apart. I dont think he will.
I love Star Wars and was crushed that it took so long to get the prequels out. I will be happy when these last three are finished.
Side note: I made a couple of the welds on the lightweight radioisotopic heating units that are on the Cassini-Hyugens satellite that has been circling Saturn for the past ten years. Also, I helped build the High Voltage Detonators, HVDs, that were used on Titan IV rocket used to lift Cassini-Hyugens on its journey to Saturn. The HVD was used for ignition, stage separation, and The self-destruct system.

Well, I've seen the movie and I came away very happy and impressed with what J.J. Abrams did with the film. There are a a few things I'd like to say, but I won't say too much for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
First off, I thought the new cast did a great job. I thought they played off each other really well and you could tell they had fun filming it. I liked watching Poe and Finn together in particular, though it's kind of brief. John Boyega and Daisey Ridely together was good too; definitely better than watching Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen. And I think Kylo Ren was a good villain. I guess he comes across as whiny or weak to some people, but that's because he's a very different villain then Vader was. Kylo is unstable and is struggling with the light side of the force. I think some people don't like him because they want him to be like Vader. I for one don't. Oh, and I liked BB-8. I was worried at first with them adding another droid, but I like him.
I also thought Abrams did a wonderful job with paying homage to the original trilogy while also making it feel new. Most of the sets were real (from what I can remember), and while there is some CGI it's used pretty sparingly, especially compared to the prequels. There are some complaints that there are a lot of similarities to A New Hope. This is true, but there are also a lot of differences. There was a video I watched that addressed this and thought it was accurate. Abrams probably played it safe to avoid messing it up.
So in the end, I came away very happy with the movie. I would tie it as the third best in the saga as a whole (my personal order is Return of the Jedi, Empire Strikes Back, then A New Hope/The Force Awakens). Abrams did play it safe with this movie, but I think he did an excellent job at setting the tone for the rest of the trilogy. A lot of questions are answered, but there are others that we still don't know the answer to. It leaves you wanting more.
And as a side note, the soundtrack isn't as memorable as previous Star Wars scores, but John Williams still did a great job. I'm just glad he did it even though he's like 83. Scherzo for X-Wings is a fun piece in particular.

Just got back from seeing it. Amazing! I felt like I was watching a Star Wars movie again! They totally made up for episodes 1,2,3. I just can't say enough good things, I hope they can keep it up.

I saw The Force Awakens last weekend. I thought it was well done. Plenty of action. It paralleled A New Hope as to how the story was told and played out. JJ did a great job.
The only drawback, which isn't much of one, is that they tried to hard for comedic one liners in situations. Other than that 4 fingers up \V/ for me. Oops sorry wrong franchise.

I was ten years old when Star Wars first showed. I've liked, not loved, it ever since. My parents had the book, which I read before we got to see the movie. The only issue I really have with the entire thing is, I'd love love to do the story already. 5-10 per chapter is insane o.O
