Here is what I have used in the past for custom resolution. I put this in my shortcut to open ET right to QAW server in 1920x1080.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\ET.exe" +r_mode "-1" +r_customwidth "1920" +r_customheight "1080" +cg_fov "115" +set net_port 5283 +set net_qport 4839 +connect 74.91.113.86:27960+com_hunkmegs 512
Since I swapped my HDD with an SSD and reinstalled W10, it hasn't been working. I am running ET as administrator and compatibility set to Windows XP SP3. Any thoughts?

Might sound silly but video card driver might need update..?? Maybe win10 installed a generic driver.. I am just grasping at straws.

How I run mine.
To fix ET from always going back to the default 800x600 setting each time you start your game.
I run 1600x1200 or so. What my file looks like. Copy-paste the following into notepad:
Change the JudgeGrudge to the folder name you have. Save it with a .BAT extension into the root of the Enemy territory folder. Save it as etstart.bat Make sure in notepad that the save as filetype you have selected all files since it will automatically add a .txt to the file. It must have .bat to work. I don't have all the folders, but it will be able to fix it if in the future if the folder(s) do appear.
------------- Key items list in the urls are---
1) If you start ET, and it detects that "profile.pid" is already present, the program assumes that it has crashed on the previous run and resets all cvars that are marked as "unsafe" in etconfig.cfg to their default values.
2) And for those running in Linux, open /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/et in a text editor and right before the line that says '/.et.x86 $*', add in 'rm ~/.etwolf/*/profiles/*/profile.pid'. That will delete all the profile.pid files in all the mod directories for all profiles.
3) If you happen to start the game with the original ET shortcut, the game will revert to the 800x600 settings. To refix it, edit your preferences back the way you want them in the game menu, then exit the game. Then you can run the game again using the etstart.bat file.

you need to add r_customaspect "1", it was previously configured in your old setup and now that you made a new one you need to set it back again. i always use "seta +command" to save it permanently in the config.
Example: seta r_mode "-1" seta r_customaspect "1" seta r_customwidth "1920" seta r_customheight "1080"

with his head shot count, at that resolution would be like shooting a tick, he must play at 320x200

Example: seta r_mode "-1" seta r_customaspect "1" seta r_customwidth "1920" seta r_customheight "1080" Ive found the easiest way to do this is to directly edit the config file instead of having it in line like Mcbain there.. I actually deleted my stock config, and remade the whole thing, named it etconfig, and pasted it into each of the different mod folders. So every time I open game, load a mod etc..it always has the exact same config loaded.

"D:\Games\Wolfenstein Enemy Territory\ET.exe" + connect 74.91.113.86:27960 Also come on Blazer you don't have the "exec blazer.cfg" in your autoexec.cfg?

I used to use autoexec... can't remember why I removed it , I still have the autoexec_map to load the map timers though.

McBain
I am having the same issue as you. I installed ET onto my daughter's new (to her) Dell Latitude E5540. When the game launches, I have black bands on either side of the game screen. Tried adding the scripts from your original post but now I can only see a fourth of the screen. Native resolution is 1920x1080.
Tried BlaZer's seta commands and get the same effect I can only see a fourth of the screen.
What's the fix, smart people?

One thing I can think of I remember forgetting to do sometimes ... after you did all the settings from Blazer's post , did you do a /vid_restart in console?

^ Try this V. I need to vid_restart after I launch the game every time. I use 1920 as well. No time now, but somewhere in the forums, I left my exe info in a post. Looks a lot like mc brain's. If you don't find it, I'll pm you later, but it works perfectly for me.

I used either mcb's or pimp's exe startup. Can't remember if I did vid restart after first use but it can't hurt.

Found it! Under the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, ensure Scale Full Screen is checked, AND Override Application Settings is checked. Now it's launching at 1024x768 (which is good enough).
/r_dynamiclight 0 turns off muzzle flashes off the walls

Word. Were you still aiming for a higher res, or is performance the goal with this machine?

I think it will be better if you use the native resolution (16:9 aspect) otherwise it'll look stretched.

Word. Were you still aiming for a higher res, or is performance the goal with this machine? She already has the machine. Next time I see it will be when it's ransomed or virus-ridden. But she has a good ET install that is full-screen. Mission accomplished! I should've imaged that drive...tsk tsk. Thanks for everyone's help! -V-
