Anybody ever make their own pizza from scratch at home? I've done it twice ... turned out pretty awful the first time I did it. The second time I did it things went a bit better. The problem I had basically was I was following this recipe just posted on imgur , and the measurements were all weird and not in terms of any measuring instruments I had. I think my conversions were a bit off the first time, and probably the second time as well though people actually enjoyed eating it the second go around. Anywho since the second time was pretty good my parents said I should make it again since they come over most days to make sure I'm alive. I found a recipe that seems to be the same as the imgur one but with proper conversions ... I'm going to try this one out in a moment so its ready to make tomorrow (dough needs to sit for a bunch of hours before cooking). www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/01/foolproof-pan-pizza-recipe.htmlI'll try to remember to take a picture tomorrow of the hopefully risen dough, and a picture of after its cooked as well , and let you know how it tastes

I make homemade pizza about once every two months, so I purchased a pizza stone which made all the difference in the world. Also, cold fermenting your dough makes huge difference in flavor and texture. Hope yours comes out delicious. Oh btw, I'm 40 and my mother still comes to check on me weekly, and calls me nightly to make sure I'm alive and give me her "helpful safety reminders", and to encourage me to change jobs after being in law enforcement 20 yrs.

I used to use the premade crusts from the fridge section of the grocery store and blast those at 500 in the oven on the stone ... those ones come out great too but not the same as the satisfaction of homemade dough. I'll have to try this dough recipe out using the stone instead of cast iron pan sometime!

The next time you think you want pizza, make your dough and proof it in the fridge for 3 days. I'm telling ya, its awesome.

I have another round of dough so the next one will have been in the fridge for a couple days!
This one turned out pretty good, everyone enjoyed it. I forgot to take some pictures as turning the oven to 525 degrees filled my house with smoke and required constant pressing of the smoke detector.

Was thinking of making a pizza tonight and was thinking of trying a different sauce, maybe something like Alfredo sauce. Any suggestions?

Don't have any sauce suggestions since I've only used regular tomato based sauce before, but I also like to do one that's just olive oil / seasoning over the dough instead of sauce. Usually do this one with tomato and basil as toppings.

You gotta make your own dough with flour, water, and bread yeast. Mix that thingyy. Then put in a bowl, put a hot moist towel over that thingy, and leave for 1-2 hours to rise, either on counter or in fridge. Thennn you make your sauze with tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, basil, and hot pepper flakes if your crazy and like it hot. Now turn the oven to 400 if your using a pizza pan. Next you roll that dough outttt, and sprinkle some cornmeal(if u crazy) on the pan. then you put the dough on your pan or whatever your using to cook. Then you paint the top with olive oil, and sprinkle a little garlic powder over it. Next make sure you throw the sauce all over the pizzaa, then put the cheeeese(I like marble or monteray jack), and all your toppings. cook for 15-22 min depending on toppings and oven.....and you win best pizza of the year.....Ill post exact measurements for dough, and sauce later lol... Pizza is my 2nd hobby outside of edible plants :s.

Great description Rel, is "thingy" a technical term? And I would love to hear more about your edible plants.
