Has anyone here seen this show? It was out on HBO last summer. Based on George R. R. Martin's medieval fantasy fiction books - A Song of Ice and Fire. Thanks to BWN for introducing me to the show. It kicks 10 different kinds of dog ass. The story line and character development is intentionally slow paced and a little confusing at first. But I loved the way every thing started coming together as the episodes progressed. Season 2 comes out next summer.

Yep, watched it and had to watch it again. Really enjoyed it.
Then bought the books. The first one is very much like the series with only a few differences. Book 2 and 3 are just as good but book 4 has been a struggle and is taking its time to get though (its not keeping me away from doing other stuff like the first 3 where I couldn't put them down).

I hate to admit it, but I watched the series twice as well. ;D
There are lots of little hints and pieces early in the show that you tend to miss when watching for the first time (since you're so focused on the main theme and getting the characters right).
I've bought the second book (A Clash of Kings) - should arrive soon.
Looks like this is going to be an epic, looong journey. Book 5 (A Dance with Dragons) is out now and then 2 more books are on their way (book 7 being the last). That's really 8 books (if you count the 2 part book 3).

Probably the best fantasy tv show ive ever seen took me a while to get my hands on it but finally convinced myself to just take the plunge in past all the hype it gets and give it a chance and i was hooked from the first 5 minutes of the first episode. Loooove it! Can't wait for ep 2 and hoping to grab the books up but not get ahead of the show too much.

i'm not a prude, but they went overboard on the sex and nudity second season
it was unnecessary, imo
which is closer to the truth? they r just showing life as it 'really is' in a medieval tiems' or is it simply to generate buzz and ratings?
pr0n is easilly found anywhere, don't need it when i'm sitting down to watch a swords & sorcery show
BY the way, if you like this series, watch "Pillars of the Earth" - no magic or armies, but GREAT story and acting

I just started with season one and have to tell that i am already distracted by stuff i dont need to see in a movie like that. By the time season comes out ill be finished with 2 i think Still never seen a dark movie like Excalibur (from Boorman) in a long time, also nude shit in it, but different and less obligatory then in Thrones.

lol Corvy, I remember Excalibur. I saw that one so many times as a kid that I thought it WAS the origin of the Arthurian legends for a long time.
It does have a similar feel to GoT.
As far as that goes. I am done until Danny starts tearing ass with dragons. I wanna see her laugh at the White walkers and totaly rip them to shreds, then go "Hey Westeros, Im the queen, anyone wanna dispute that??" and everyone goes "uhhh no, thanks we are good."
Plus - Joffrey(Geoffry?) and Littlefinger need to die horribly at some point.

wow, thanks zoh, guess i don't need to read the books now...
j/k. i really like the series.
but for those that are thinking of watching - keep in mind, this is a loooooooong story, so when a season ends, the story keeps going (in the following season) - no resolution, completion, etc
i usually hate when i'm watching a series and they end it with a huge cliff-hanger. (in this case it's ok, cuz i know the story is looooooong)

oh, and there is a recent PC game, rpg/first person called game of thrones, i'm playing it, at least half-way through.
it is great, though not big on action. it's all about the story. lots of intrigue. so if you like story, play it. if you're looking for call of duty/battlefield whatever, stay away.

Can't believe John Snow is really dead. Tyrion Lannister is my last hope.

So many Arya theories on the internets currently. The speculation is getting to be pretty funny.
Arya and Waif are the same person. In that scene, Arya was actually Waif, and the person who stabbed was actually Arya. Jaqen was 'dressed' as Arya in that scene to fulfil Arya's final wish.
... and many more...

****** MAJOR EPISODE 8 SPOILER ALERT BELOW *****
So, Arya gets stabbed by a 6 inch dagger - and then she's running around the streets of Braavos a day or two later? And prior to that, altho' she'd been training in the faceless temple for years, she just casually decides to wander the streets (without needle) throwing money around nonchalantly?!
What a f'n disaster!
And the whole Blackfish thing didn't make sense either.
Just an episode earlier the Tully army didn't care about the Blackfish's reaction when the Freys threatened to slice off Edmure's throat. But, a few days later, they're all behind the lord of riverrun or whatever, notwithstanding the fact that they spent years together (fighting loyally) with the Blackfish, taking back Riverrun from the Freys. Huh?
And the Blackfish had a chance to escape, but instead decided to commit "suicide"?!
If he was that foolhardy and stubborn, why didn't he just run back into the site of the red wedding and decide to flaunt his kamikaze skills there?
Weird.
Hope the last 2 episodes finish off on a high note. Yeah, the battle of the bastards should be next.
